Leaves swirling inside a teapot
As I pour a small stream of the drink
Into a mug, heating the glass
Cupping my hands around the mug
staring the stumps of nails on my fingertips
I flip the book upside down
Pausing my mental adventure
To sip and let the tea cool and soothe me
The sun shines from behind a cloud
And the clock ticks on
